Geographic Information System (GIS)

GIS is just one type of information technology it has specific language and terminology that should be understood. Its integrate hardware, software, and data for capturing, managing, analyzing, displaying and output of geographic and descriptive information for specific purposes. The system is able to introduce geographic information (maps, aerial photographs, Cable satellite) and metadata (names, tables), treatment (revision of the error), storage, retrieval, inquiry, analysis (spatial analysis and statistical), and displayed on the computer screen or on paper in the form of maps, reports, and graphs.

It is a powerful system , I found that it has been called "geography on steroids.". Geographic information system (GIS) is a technological tool for comprehending geography and making intelligent decisions. GIS is important today because it is able to bring together information from multiple sources so that various types of work can be done.
